Catching Up - Smooshy Mushy
It's been a while, huh? Updating my website has taken a back seat while working on the launch of RedwoodVentures' newest toy line, Smooshy Mushy (among many other lines we have in development). I'll be catching up on posting work from the past few months, and I plan to start posting here consistently 😊 In the meantime, let me catch you up on what I've been working on!
Smooshy Mushy is a line of a adorable, scented, slow-rising squishy Pets and their Besties! There are 46 characters available in Series 1, and 16 from Series 2 available in the U.S. now. Smooshy Mushy was named one of the hottest toys of 2017 by several sources, including The Toy Insider, Fortune, New York Magazine, and Fox News to name a few.
Smooshy Mushy has been the vast majority of my life since June, working on packaging, PDQs, retail assets, and digital content for the brand. In October, I took over the social media efforts, focusing primarily on the growth of our Instagram and YouTube channel. There is a large international squishy and slime community that we were able to to become a part of through interacting with users in a way that they don't typically experience with companies. Our strategy has been to create quality content that our #SmooshySquad can't wait to share. In 2018, video is king, and this played a large role in how we were able to generate an active community quickly. Now not only am I managing the Smooshy Mushy social feeds, but now I am Social Media Manager for all of Redwood's brands! This is in addition to my role as Graphic Designer, since RedwoodVentures is still a rather new company we have to wear many hats, and I love it. I am so thankful for the opportunity I got to prove myself, and with measurable results! Since taking over the account in October at under 100 followers, we have reached over 14.5k followers as of now, averaging between 200 and 300 new followers per day. In that same time frame, the Instagram has received 750k views, and 1.5M YouTube views. It's been amazing getting to work with such a unique product and to make so many kids around the world happy. It's still a foreign feeling to celebrate myself, but I am so proud of myself for being able to accomplish what I have and to really push myself to make things happen.
